A strategic decision for a timely and safely executed transition
The key goal was not a radical change of processes, but a stable, technically reliable and business-uninterrupted move to the most modern generation of the SAP ERP system. Management chose a system-conversion approach that preserves existing processes and data while technologically upgrading the core to SAP S/4HANA.
The project was delivered within the planned six-month window - with minimal impact on the business and no disruption to users’ daily work.
A structured approach following the MyWay2S/4HANA methodology
The migration followed the clearly defined phases of the PROCESSI MyWay2S/4HANA methodology:
Transition readiness analysis
A review of the current system, data and key business processes.
Preparing the environment for a safe transition
Setting up the conditions to test and run the migration without affecting ongoing operations.
Validating the transition in a test environment
Repeated verification of the migration procedure to reduce risk before go-live.
Aligning key business data
Preparing and aligning data for the new generation of the ERP system.
Adjustments for users
Updating key forms, reports and functionality for uninterrupted user work.
Controlled launch of the new system
The final move to production with minimal impact on the business.
The project covered the process areas of finance, controlling, sales, procurement, production, distribution, project management and basic HR data - with an emphasis on the uninterrupted continuation of business after the transition.
A demanding ERP migration can be carried out in a structured way, within reasonable timelines and without unnecessary pressure on the internal organisation.- Project summary
A technological upgrade without business upheaval
- Long-term alignment with SAP’s development strategy
- Improved system performance on the SAP HANA base
- A simplified data structure
- A modern digital foundation for future upgrades and optimisations
Because this was a conversion project and not a re-engineering implementation, the emphasis was on stability and a controlled transition. Incremental test conversions ensured that the final production cut-over was carried out without major complications.
A partnership built on trust
The project was run in close cooperation between the SENSUM and PROCESSI teams. The key to success was a combination of clear project organisation, transparent communication, pragmatic decision-making and a realistic timeline.
